Alex Medeiros

Job TitleDirector, Content Development & Acquisitions

Company NameGlobosat

Alex Medeiros is the Director of Content Development & Acquisitions, and International Relations, at Globosat, Brazil’s leading Pay TV programmer. His job is to acquire linear and digital rights for over 30 channels, from major and independent studios and distributors, as well as to prospect and develop new formats and shows, partnering with Globosat’s creative units, namely well-established channels such as Multishow, GNT and Gloob.

Alex’s career is a two-decade-plus journey through virtually every link of the creative chain, acting as a director, creative director, producer, executive producer, writer, editor, and programmer, but mostly as a creative development executive. He spent over half of this career at TV Globo, Globosat’s sister company, working closely with some of Brazil’s top writers, directors, actors, and presenters. For twelve years he was responsible for the New Formats division, overseeing the development process for drama and comedy series, as well as variety, musical, and other entertainment formats. A transmedia pioneer, Alex created Brazil’s first dedicated team, with whom he developed and produced over 800 individual episodes of digital-only titles.

Before Globo, Alex was at The Walt Disney Company, in Miami, as Acquisitions Manager, launching The Disney Channel in Latin America and Brazil and seeking out scripts, formats, and other properties for potential worldwide deals.

Alex started out in the business precisely at Globosat, handling acquisitions for channels, GNT, Multishow, SporTV, and Telecine, still in the company’s early days. In many ways, his career has now come full circle.

Alex is also a film director and writer, published author, and a frequent conference speaker on innovation and creative development.
