Atsushi Murayama

Atsushi Murayama has been working on cultural and educational programs since joining NHK in 1990. His early standout work included the NHK Special documentary series “Bunmei No Michi” (Eurasian Empires); the human-focused documentary series “Ningen Document” (Human Documentary), the educational series “ETV Special”; and “Tanken Roman Sekai Isan” (Exploring World Heritage Sites). He worked as senior producer on art and history programs including the art series “Gokujobi No Kyoen” (Feast of Finest Art), the art documentary “Jakuchu: The divine colors” (which focuses on the Japanese painter Ito Jakuchu); the history series “BS Rekishikan” (BS Museum); and the history series “Eiyutachi No Sentaku” (Choices of Heroes). From 2015 to 2017, he was executive producer on the art series “Nichiyo Bijutsukan” (Sunday Art Gallery). He is currently based at NHK’s content development center, where he serves as executive producer on shows including “Cool Japan”.
