  • The Wit List - Playlist 50 details

    Trepalium, Arte, France

Pitch: Thriller drama series set in the end of the 21st century. The economic situation is a nightmare: only 20% of the population is actively employed while everybody else is jobless. The Actives live secluded within the city limits. On the fringes, in the Zone, live the Jobless. Two opposing territories in a dehumanized society. Separating them is a fortified wall. On one side, the Jobless, hungry, thirsty, in a state of total abandon. On the other, the Actives, forever terrorized by the idea of losing their jobs.

Social media buzz: According to the witspottER analytics, the drama series was among the top 10 most commented premieres of the week in social media in Europe, number one in France.

    Premiere: Thursday, February 11, 2016
    Distributor: Lagardère Studios Distribution
    6 weekly 60-minute episodes

    MTV Super Shore, MTV, Spain

Pitch: New spin-off of the format Jersey Shore, this time bringing together cast members from Gandía Shore (Spain) and Acapulco Shore (Mexico), plus one Italian and one Brazilian cast member. The zany summer vacation of a group of good-looking young people. Also launched on MTV Latinoamérica on the same day.

Social media buzz: According to the witspottER analytics, the reality series was among the top 5 most commented premieres of the week in social media in Europe, second in Spain behind the Eurovision selections. After 2 months, the number of Facebook Likes was multiplied by almost four, reaching a huge 433 061 Likes on April 11, 2016. The number of Twitter followers was multiplied by two over the same period.

    Premiere: Tuesday, February 2, 2016
Distributor: Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN, MTV)
    14 weekly 60-minute episodes

The A Word, BBC One, UK

Pitch: Local adaptation of the format The A Word (Pilpelim Tzehubim aired in Israel on Channel 2 in 2010) focusing on a family’s painful, and often humorous, journey of denial and introspection, after their 5-year-old son is diagnosed with autism. When The Hughes family learn that their youngest son is autistic, they don’t feel like every other family anymore. They realize that if their son is ever going to communicate, they are going to have to learn how to communicate themselves.

Social media buzz: According to the witspottER analytics, the drama series was among the top 5 most commented premieres of the week in social media in Europe and the most commented scripted premiere of the week.
